LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the Tenth Annual Construction
Career Day to be held on Friday, March 12, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those events and its organizers whose true purpose and faithful
endeavors contribute significantly to the education and preparation of
the youth who will comprise the future strength and vision of this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the Tenth Annual Construction Career Day to be held on Friday,
March 12, 2010, at Rockland Community College, Suffern, New York; and
WHEREAS, This most auspicious occasion is sponsored by The Building
and Construction Trades Council of Westchester and Putnam Counties, New
York; AFL-CIO; Building and Trades Council of Rockland; The Construction
Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley, Inc. and the
Construction Advancement Institute of Westchester/Mid Hudson Inc.; and
WHEREAS, At this event apprenticeship trainers and skilled trades
people from various building and construction trades will perform demon-
strations using the tools and material of their specific trade; and
WHEREAS, Students will participate in hands-on activities and will
receive information about training, apprenticeships, career paths, and
potential salaries and benefits; and
WHEREAS, This event is instrumental in educating young people about
the various career opportunities with the Building and Construction
Industry; organizers are expecting over 700 students in grades 10-12
from Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland school districts to attend; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
Construction Career Day, noting the propriety of its goals, the constan-
cy of its commitment and the significance of its accomplishments, in
preparing the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Tenth Annual Construction Career Day to be held on
Friday, March 12, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned sponsors of Construction Career Day.
