LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anthony Buanno upon the occasion of his
retirement as Gloversville 4th Ward Supervisor after 47 years of dedi-
cated service

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of its esteemed
public servants; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Chart" Buanno will be honored during a dinner to be
held at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown on February 8, 2010, upon the occa-
sion of his retirement as Gloversville 4th Ward Supervisor after 47
years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, Chart began his distinguished career in public service on the
Gloversville Common Council; and
WHEREAS, He was elected 4th Ward Supervisor in 1962; and
WHEREAS, Chart served in this position for 47 years, retiring in
December of 2009; and
WHEREAS, He served as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in both
1973 and 1996; and
WHEREAS, Chart also served on many Board of Supervisors' Standing
Committees; and
WHEREAS, He was instrumental in several key projects in Fulton County,
including the establishment of Fulton Montgomery Community College, the
Fulton County Airport, a new county jail, the Office for the Aging
building, the Fulton County Infirmary, and the Fulton County Landfill
and Recycling Facility; and
WHEREAS, On the Board of Supervisors, Chart worked with not-for-profit
agencies and boards, including Fulmont Community Action Agency, Office
for the Aging Advisory Council, FMCC Board of Trustees, Adirondack
Resource Conservation and Development Council, and the Mohawk Valley
Economic Development District; and
WHEREAS, He served his country with honor as a member of the United
States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II; he was
awarded the Purple Heart and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with four clus-
ters; and
WHEREAS, The State of New York is pleased to join Fulton County in
honoring Chart for his long and distinguished service and many valuable
contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony "Chart" Buanno upon the occasion of his retirement as
Gloversville's 4th Ward Supervisor; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony "Chart" Buanno.
