LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Don Hobart upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the New York State School Boards Association
Advocacy of the Year Award

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge those
outstanding educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements are
instrumental in developing character and academic excellence in the
young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Don
Hobart upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the New York
State School Boards Association Advocacy of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Donald Hobart was first elected to the LeRoy Central School
Board of Education in 1996; moving on to serve as Vice-President during
the 2002-2003 school year, he was elected President of the LeRoy Central
School District in 2003, and since that time, has been re-elected Presi-
dent every year by his Board of Education colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Don Hobart has served on and chaired every committee of the
Board, including: Budget and Finance, Audit, Policy, Negotiations, and
Instruction/Technology; throughout all of his years on the Board of
Education, he has been a member of the Genesee Valley School Boards
Association and for the past six years has served as President of that
organization; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Don Hobart has attended numerous workshops
supported by the New York State School Boards Association, especially in
the area of Financial Accountability; he is a true asset to society; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Don Hobart upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the New York State School Boards Association Advocacy of the Year Award;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Don Hobart.
