LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring members of the Skaneateles Volunteer
Fire Department upon the occasion of celebrating milestone anniversaries
of their service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those illustrious individuals of distinguished purpose whose
lives have been committed to the pursuit of excellence and who bring
great pride to the citizens of our great State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
members of the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department upon the occasion
of celebrating milestone anniversaries of their service; and
WHEREAS, James Audlin joined the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department
in October of 1950, and is celebrating his 60th year of service; over
the past 60 years, James has held the position of Captain of the Hook &
Ladder Company, and Captain of Protection No. 2 District; he is the
longest serving member of the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Frank Tokarz is celebrating 55 years of service with the
Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department, having joined in March of 1955;
Frank has been a brave and active member for more than five decades and
continues to serve and attend monthly department meetings; and
WHEREAS, G. William "Bill" Gregory joined the Skaneateles Volunteer
Fire Department in May of 1959 and recently celebrated 50 years of
membership; Bill has held the position of Captain of Hose Company 1,
co-chaired the food stand for the Labor Day Field Days, and continues to
serve by attending monthly department meetings; and
WHEREAS, In October of 1959, Charles T. Major joined the Skaneateles
Volunteer Fire Department; even after 50 years, Charlie is still an
active member of the department and participates in responding to a
majority of the department's calls; Charlie continues to provide valu-
able leadership and insight to the younger members of the fire house;
and
WHEREAS, David Sheppard joined the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Depart-
ment in January of 1960, and is still an active member; over his 50 year
tenure, David has held many roles, including Captain of the Hook &
Ladder Company, President of the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department,
Director of Budget & Audit, and most recently oversaw the construction
of the new fire station; and
WHEREAS, In February of 1960, Fred Dobrosky joined the Skaneateles
Volunteer Fire Department; during his 50 years of service, Fred held the
position of Captain of Protection Company No. 2 and Captain of Fire
Police; Fred continues to attend monthly department meetings and serves
as a department trustee; and
WHEREAS, In March of 1960, Don Whiting joined the Skaneateles Volun-
teer Fire Department; Don actively served for 25 years, and his dedi-
cated service to the department and the community continues to be remem-
bered today; and
WHEREAS, James Audlin, Frank Tokarz, Bill Gregory, Charlie Major,
David Sheppard, Fred Dobrosky, and Don Whiting have dedicated their
lives to serving their community as members of the Skaneateles Volunteer
Fire Department; their bravery, selflessness, and commitment serves as a
source of great pride and inspiration to their family, friends, and the
community for which they serve; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and thank the aforementioned members of the Skaneateles Volunteer
Fire Department who are celebrating milestone anniversaries of service;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Audlin, Frank Tokarz, Bill Gregory, Charlie Major,
David Sheppard, Fred Dobrosky, and Don Whiting.
