LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School
Baseball Team upon the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of its undefeat-
ed season

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Baseball Team upon the occasion of
the 50th Anniversary of its undefeated season; this auspicious occasion
will be celebrated at the 13th Annual Schenectady City School District
Athletic Hall of Fame and Reunion Dinner, to be held on Monday, Septem-
ber 13, 2010, at Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame
was established in 1998 to honor those individuals who have made signif-
icant contributions to the history and tradition of sports in the Sche-
nectady City School District; and
WHEREAS, The 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Baseball Team captured
the Class A League title with an outstanding 8-0 record; it finished the
season undefeated with an overall 9-0 record; and
WHEREAS, Coached by Toni Parisi, a member of the Schenectady City
School District Athletic Hall of Fame, the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High
School Baseball Team was the first undefeated baseball team in Mont
Pleasant High School history; and
WHEREAS, Joe DeCarlo led the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Base-
ball Team in hitting with a .560 batting average; Schenectady City
School District Athletic Hall of Famer, Joe Loudis was the team's
leadoff hitter; and
WHEREAS, The pitching staff of the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School
Baseball Team was led by junior Ed Barnowski, who finished the season
with a 5-0 record and two no-hitters; he had 60 strikeouts in 34
innings; he went on to pitch for Syracuse University and was in the
Baltimore Orioles organization in both the minor and major leagues; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the undefeated
1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Baseball Team; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations with
praise and pride to honor the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Baseball
Team upon the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of its undefeated season;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the 1959-60 Mont Pleasant High School Baseball
Team.
