LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Jacob M. Mahoney of Clifton Park,
New York, upon the occasion of his outstanding performance at the 2009
New York State Championship of the National Geographic Bee

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State by achieving outstanding success in educational
competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Jacob Michael Mahoney of Clifton Park, New York, upon the occasion
of his outstanding performance at the 2009 New York State Championship
of the National Geographic Bee, held at the New York State Museum, Alba-
ny, New York, on Friday, April 3, 2009; and
WHEREAS, A 6th grader at Acadia Middle School, Jacob M. Mahoney
finished in the Top 20 out of 100 students; his Social Studies teacher
and friend, Mrs. Dale, has done a superb job in guiding, molding and
inspiring him toward his goals; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction and superlative ability,
Jacob M. Mahoney exemplifies the best potential which is inherent in our
most precious resource, our youth; he has established a high standard of
academic excellence and purposefulness of life rarely achieved in youth-
ful years; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his mother, Brooke; and his
father, Michael; as well as his aunts and cousins, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, Jacob
M. Mahoney now stands honorably, with just pride in his accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by his teachers, his
parents, and his school; and
WHEREAS, In achieving this outstanding accomplishment, Jacob M. Maho-
ney may take just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spir-
it of excellence he brings to his family, friends, community and Acadia
Middle School within the Shenendehowa Central School District; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jacob M. Mahoney of Clifton Park, New York, upon the occa-
sion of his outstanding performance at the 2009 New York State Champion-
ship of the National Geographic Bee, and to offer him best wishes for a
future of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jacob M. Mahoney, 10 Liberty Way, Clifton Park, New York
