LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joann Lamonica upon the occasion of
being named the first "Distinguished Partner In Education" by St. Mary's
School on April 25, 2009

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Joann Lamonica has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Joann Lamonica
upon the occasion of being named the first "Distinguished Partner In
Education" by St. Mary's School, Oneonta, New York, to be celebrated at
its annual fundraising dinner "Enchanted Evening" on Saturday, April 25,
2009; and
WHEREAS, Joann Lamonica believed in Father Paul A. Roman's dream which
was to build a new school away from downtown Oneonta's busy streets; and
WHEREAS, A parish council member, Joann Lamonica served on the build-
ing committee and, when the new St. Mary's School was built on Route 7,
she and her husband, Diz, were happy to support the construction of the
chapel; and
WHEREAS, Joann Lamonica continues her involvement with the school in
many ways such as making sure seasonal plantings and decorations are
taken care of at the school's entrance; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Joann Lamonica has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Joann Lamonica has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joann Lamonica upon the occasion of being named the first "Distin-
guished Partner In Education" by St. Mary's School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joann Lamonica.
