LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Mike Merrow upon the occasion of his
designation as Businessman of the Year by Catholic Charities of Rensse-
laer County

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Mike Merrow upon the occasion of his designation as Businessman of the
Year by Catholic Charities of Rensselaer County; and
WHEREAS, Mike Merrow will be honored by Catholic Charities of Rensse-
laer County at its 2009 Benefit Gala on June 11, 2009 at the Gardner
Earl Memorial Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery; and
WHEREAS, A native of Maine, Mike Merrow has resided in Kinderhook, New
York, for the last 19 years and is a graduate of the State University of
New York with a degree in business and economics; and
WHEREAS, The District Manager for Hannaford Supermarkets, Mike Merrow
is responsible for retail operations in the greater Albany market,
managing operations with sales in excess of 400 million dollars annual-
ly; and
WHEREAS, Despite his busy professional life, Mike Merrow has compiled
an impressive record of civic and charitable service; he has served on
numerous boards, including the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New
York and the Schodack Business Association; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mike Merrow is the Treasurer of the Rensselaer
County Chamber of Commerce and a Signature member of the Texas Tech
Committee for Productivity and Quality of Worklife; and
WHEREAS, With Mike Merrow throughout have been his wife, Kelly, and
their two daughters, Katherine and Kimberly, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Mike Merrow and to wish him continued
success in all of his future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mike Merrow upon the occasion of his designation as Businessman
of the Year by Catholic Charities of Rensselaer County; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mike Merrow.
