LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Andy and Jeanne Maroney upon the occa-
sion of being selected as the Grand Marshals of the 2009 Cornwall Inde-
pendence Day Parade

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Andy
and Jeanne Maroney upon the occasion of being selected as the Grand
Marshals of the 2009 Cornwall Independence Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Cornwall-on-Hudson who recently cele-
brated their 60th wedding anniversary, Andy and Jeanne Maroney have a
record of civic involvement that stretches back decades; they are both
regulars at village board meetings, keeping an eye on projects underway,
and serve as election inspectors; and
WHEREAS, True citizens of Cornwall, Andy and Jeanne Maroney believe in
giving back to the community they love so much; they are founding
members of the Cornwall Historical Society and helped restore the
village bandstand and set up the summer concert series; and
WHEREAS, A member of the United States Navy during World War II, Andy
Maroney is a past Commander of American Legion Post 353; he is also a
member of the village zoning board of appeals, the village master plan
committee and the riverfront revitalization committee, where his recol-
lection of how Cornwall Landing used to be helps guide the group in
planning for future use; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is pleased to have this opportunity to
express its highest admiration for Andy and Jeanne Maroney and to wish
them continued success in all of their future endeavors; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Andy and Jeanne Maroney upon the occasion of being selected as the
Grand Marshals of the 2009 Cornwall Independence Day Parade; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Andy and Jeanne Maroney.
