LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the South Shore Little League
All-Star Team for participating in the Little League World Series in
Williamsport, Pennsylvania

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, The South Shore Little League National All-Star Team are both
the New York State and Mid Atlantic Regional Champions, which granted
them a birth in the Little League World Series held in Williamsport,
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, The South Shore Nationals are led by Manager Mike Zaccariel-
lo, and Coach Glen Morisano; both skilled and inspirational tutors for
their ability to develop potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, The South Shore Nationals were loyally and enthusiastically
supported by family, fans, friends and the community at large including
visits from Colorado Rockies Pitcher and former South Shore All-Star
Jason Marquis, and former New York Yankees Bucky Dent and Mike Mussina;
and
WHEREAS, The South Shore Nationals posted impressive wins over both
the North West Regional Champions, Mercer Island Little League of Wash-
ington State, and the Midwest Regional Champions, Urbandale Little Leag-
ue of Iowa, but were eventually eliminated in the United States Semi-Fi-
nals against the Southwest Regional Champions, McAllister Park Little
League of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the tournament, the South Shore Nationals proved
themselves to be true competitors and good sportsmen, reflecting favora-
bly on their league and Staten Island; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the South Shore Little League National All-Star Team; its
members: Rob Mastroddi, James Morisano, Angelo Navetta, Paul Pizzo, Nick
Pucciarelli, Vincent Quinn, Mike Rapaglia, Joe Ruggirello, Mike Russell,
Anthony Scotti, Nick Vitale, and John Zarella; Manager Mike Zaccariello
and Coach Glen Morisano on their outstanding accomplishments; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the South Shore Little League National All-Star Team, and to
Manager Mike Zaccariello and Coach Glen Morisano.
