LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dick Walters upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Service to Armed Forces Award by the
American Red Cross

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dick
Walters upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Service
to Armed Forces Award by the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious statewide award recognizes outstanding dedi-
cation, commitment and compassion demonstrated by a volunteer or an
employee in serving as the communication link between service men and
women and their families at home; in addition, this individual must have
served for a minimum of one year, and may or may not have deployed on
assignment with military forces around the globe; and
WHEREAS, Dick Walters of Bath, New York, is one such individual; he
has given not only of his time and energies but also of his competence,
intelligence and leadership to service men and women and their families
at the Greater Steuben Chapter of the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dick Walters has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body when individuals of
such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention, they
should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dick Walters upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Service to Armed Forces Award by the American Red Cross; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dick Walters, Bath, New York.
