LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Lenny Heide upon the occasion of his
designation as Man of the Year by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce on
January 27, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of and
publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and character
who have inspired and brought pride to our majestic Empire State with
their strong contributions to the community and model citizenship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Lenny Heide upon the occasion of his designation as Man of the Year by
the Merrick Chamber of Commerce at its Annual Installation Dinner held
on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Chateau Briand; and
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Lenny Heide has continually
demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence and diligent
leadership in his unwavering service to his community and profession and
has been designated for this most prestigious award; and
WHEREAS, Lenny Heide, Chief Custodian at Calhoun High School, works
tirelessly to keep the school in its best condition, and takes a
personal interest in many of the students he encounters; he loves the
Merrick community and was recognized for his holiday light display in
2010; and
WHEREAS, Planning to build a greenhouse with life skills students,
Lenny Heide helps in any way he can to improve the lives of those in
need, and demonstrates the ability that everyone has to make a differ-
ence; a true asset to society, he uses his job as an avenue to help
others; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lenny Heide has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Lenny Heide has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lenny Heide upon the occasion of his designation as Man of the
Year by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce on January 27, 2011; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Lenny Heide.
