LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jonas Weiner upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the UJA-Federation of New York

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Jonas Weiner has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Jonas Weiner
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
UJA-Federation of New York, to be celebrated at its Annual Luncheon at
Brae Burn Country Club, Purchase, New York, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, The UJA-Federation of New York's mission is to care for
people in need, inspire a passion for Jewish life and learning, and
strengthen Jewish communities in New York, Israel, and around the world;
and
WHEREAS, A native of Mahopac, New York, Jonas Weiner earned a Bachelor
of Science degree in business administration from Rider University; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Jonas Weiner is President of Best Plumbing Tile &
Stone, a premier distributor of plumbing, heating, kitchen and bath
products; he joined the family business which was started in 1960, by
his parents, Mel and Adele Weiner; today, he continues to grow the busi-
ness with his brother, Jess, and his daughter, Kymberly; and
WHEREAS, Jonas Weiner has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A longtime supporter of UJA-Federation of New York, Jonas
Weiner is a former committee member of the Westchester Business and
Professional Division; and
WHEREAS, Jonas Weiner has been active in many local organizations
including Somers Education Foundation, Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford
Corners, and Friends of Karen, a local nonprofit organization; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he is a member of several industry associations
such as American Supply Association and Affiliated Distributors; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jonas Weiner has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Sharon and their
three children, Kymberly, Jeff and Eric, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jonas Weiner has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jonas Weiner upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the UJA-Federation of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jonas Weiner, Pound Ridge, New York.
