LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Central Brooklyn Independent Demo-
crats upon the occasion of hosting its 42nd Anniversary Dinner

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats upon the occasion of hosting
its 42nd Anniversary Dinner, to be celebrated on Sunday, April 10, 2011
at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, This fine event will honor several distinguished honorees,
including: Congressman Anthony Weiner, Richard Bashner, Ede Fox, Lucy
Koteen, and Jemma Marie-Hanson; and
WHEREAS, The Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats (CBID) is a commu-
nity-based Democratic club; it has fought for reform and progressive
causes since 1968; and
WHEREAS, As a Brooklyn-based Club, CBID has been instrumental in the
election of many candidates for public office; much of this success is a
result of its question-and-answer forums with prospective candidates, as
well as its extensive on-the-street contact with its constituents; and
WHEREAS, Staunchly opposed to political corruption, CBID is proud of
its independence and its commitment to progressive reform in city, state
and national politics; it is a vehicle for citizen empowerment and
making government more accountable to its neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, CBID's distinguished record merits the recognition and
respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats upon the occasion of
hosting its 42nd Anniversary Dinner; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats, and to the aforemen-
tioned honorees.
