LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jen Gerland, a member of the Garden
City Cross Country Girls' Team, for an outstanding Fall 2010 season

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented
student athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
their outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
commend Jen Gerland, a member of the Garden City Cross Country Girls'
Team, for an outstanding Fall 2010 season; and
WHEREAS, A remarkable athletic talent, eighth-grader Jen Gerald had a
tremendous season while participating as a member of the Fall 2010
Garden City Cross Country Girls' Team; and
WHEREAS, Among her many accomplishments, Jen Gerland ranked 38 out of
300 individuals in the Federation Meet which ranks all public and
private school cross country athletes throughout the State of New York;
furthermore, she ranked in the Top 20 in New York State, second overall
in Garden City history, and eighth in the Nation for an eighth grader;
and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Jen Gerland's dedication to running is
a year-round, everyday commitment; she is highly focused and has devel-
oped a matchless athletic drive; and
WHEREAS, Jen Gerland's exemplary performance is reflective of her
dedication, determination and personal commitment; her achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jen Gerland, a member of the Garden City Cross Country Girls'
Team, for an outstanding Fall 2010 season, and to congratulate her for
the enduring honor she has brought to her family, her school and her
community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jen Gerland.
