LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara Cutrone upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2011 Spirit Award from the Huntington
Foundation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Cutrone has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara
Cutrone upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the 2011
Spirit Award from the Huntington Foundation, to be celebrated on Friday,
January 21, 2011, in Woodbury, New York, at the 18th Annual Reach for
the Stars fundraising gala; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Foundation is a not-for-profit organization
dedicated to enhancing the quality of the district's schools; since
parents created it in 1993, the Foundation has funded a large quantity
in educator-generated grants; and
WHEREAS, The Huntington Foundation for Excellence in Education is
honoring Blue Devil Booster Club President Barbara Cutrone with the
group's Spirit Award; an extraordinary school volunteer, she has served
as a PTA president and vice-president; her most impressive achievement
has come in helping to lead a renaissance for the Blue Devils Booster
Club, which has donated a significant amount in goods to enhance
Huntington's athletic programs; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Cutrone has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Barbara Cutrone has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Frank, their chil-
dren, Sam, Jamie, and Jack, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of
her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Barbara Cutrone has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara Cutrone upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the 2011 Spirit Award from the Huntington Foundation; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara Cutrone.
