LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Saugerties Public Library upon the
occasion of hosting its dedication ceremony for the completion of its
expansion and restoration project

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across the great State
of New York is reflective of certain exemplary institutions whose
purpose is dedicated to serving the community and the needs of its citi-
zenry; and
WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Saugerties Public Library is in
direct correlation to the efforts of the many individuals who have
supported the development of the library over the years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Sauger-
ties Public Library upon the occasion of hosting its dedication ceremony
for the completion of its expansion and restoration project, to be cele-
brated on Saturday, January 29, 2011; and
WHEREAS, This special event is to honor everyone who has assisted and
supported the library through the transition of temporarily being
located at the Town Hall building, as well as its move back to its
original site; and
WHEREAS, The Saugerties Public Library expanded its facility at 91
Washington Avenue from 8,365 square feet to 13,162 square feet; it will
offer a new street-level entrance to the main floor, a public meeting
space, an expanded media collection and a teen area with collection
space and computer stations, among other amenities; and
WHEREAS, The library building, which dates to 1915, also has been made
fully accessible with the installation of an elevator; and
WHEREAS, Ably led by its Executive Director Jessica Gonzalez and root-
ed in a proud and distinguished history, the Saugerties Public Library
may take just pride in its purposeful growth, as it looks forward to
continuing to serve the educational, cultural and intellectual needs of
the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Saugerties Public Library upon the occasion of hosting its
dedication ceremony for the completion of its expansion and restoration
project; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jessica Gonzalez, Executive Director, Saugerties Public
Library.
