LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Korean American Youth Foundation
upon the occasion of hosting its 18th Annual Benefit Gala

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Korean American Youth Foundation upon the occasion of hosting its
18th Annual Benefit Gala on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at the Dae Dong Manor
in Flushing, New York; and
WHEREAS, The theme of this year's gala is "Following Through"; the
Korean American Youth Foundation (KAYF) wants to bring confidence and
determination to the hearts of its youth as they pursue their own
dreams; and
WHEREAS, KAYF provides the resources for Korean American young adults
to become successful, civic-minded citizens by promoting leadership
skills and instilling community values, while creating networking
avenues between the present and future generations of Korean American
leaders; and
WHEREAS, KAYF is located in Flushing, Queens, which harbors the larg-
est concentration of foreign-born residents in New York; and
WHEREAS, Founded in May of 1993, KAYF has been a leader in developing
innovative programs to benefit Korean American youth in the Greater New
York area; the organization focuses on developing their academic and
professional potential, as well as on cultivating positive models of
diversity and community-building among minority youths; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Korean American Youth Foundation upon the occasion of host-
ing its 18th Annual Benefit Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hee Suk Kim, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Korean Amer-
ican Youth Foundation.
