LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Robert Cimmino as the Head Coach
of the 2010-2011 Mount Vernon High School Boys Basketball Team upon the
occasion of capturing three major New York State championships

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which actions are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Robert Cimmino as the Head Coach of the 2010-2011 Mount Vernon High
School Boys Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing three major
New York State championships; and
WHEREAS, One of the most highly respected and successful high school
basketball coaches in the nation, Robert Cimmino is the Head Coach of
the Mount Vernon High School Boys Basketball Team; and
WHEREAS, Robert Cimmino was also selected as the Head Coach of the
East team in the highly prestigious McDonald's Annual game which
features many of the top senior high school basketball players in the
nation; he was ably supported by his superb assistants, Assistant Head
Coach, Brian Pritchett, and Assistant Coach, Dwayne Murray; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Robert Cimmino's 2010-2011 Mount Vernon High
School Boys Basketball Team captured three major New York State high
school basketball championships: the Section One championship, the New
York Public High School Athletic Association championship, and the New
York State Federation Tournament of Champions title; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Robert Cimmino and his staff guided, molded and
inspired the 2010-2011 Mount Vernon High School Boys Basketball Team
members to their remarkable victories in three major New York State
championships; and
WHEREAS, In addition, since 2000, as Head Coach of the Mount Vernon
High School Boys Basketball Team, Robert Cimmino has guided his teams to
11 Section One championships, five New York Public High School Athletic
Association championships and four New York State Federation Tournament
of Champions titles; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such outstanding athletic coaching accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this
great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Robert Cimmino as the Head Coach of the 2010-2011 Mount
Vernon High School Boys Basketball Team upon the occasion of capturing
three major New York State championships; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Head Coach Robert Cimmino of the Mount Vernon High School
Boys Basketball Team, and to his Assistant Head Coach, Brian Pritchett,
and Assistant Coach, Dwayne Murray.
