LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Colin Lu upon the occasion of winning a
Gold Medal at the 42nd International Chemistry Olympiad in Tokyo, Japan,
July 19-28, 2010

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young scholars who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our majestic
Empire State; Colin Lu of Vestal, New York, is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Colin Lu upon the occasion of winning a Gold Medal at the 42nd Interna-
tional Chemistry Olympiad held in Tokyo, Japan, July 19-28, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Colin Lu, Vestal High School's Class of 2010 valedictorian,
was the high scorer for the United States Alpha Gamma Team; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, he earned a Silver Medal from the Olympiad held in
Cambridge, England; Colin Lu has been named a National Merit Scholarship
finalist and plans to major in Chemistry or Mathematics at Yale Univer-
sity in the Fall; and
WHEREAS, Colin Lu, in achieving this high academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence he brings to his family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, A young man of singular distinction, Colin Lu has distin-
guished himself as a young man of superlative ability, establishing a
high standard of academic excellence and purposefulness of life rarely
achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to honor Colin Lu, a young man
and able scholar, recognizing the value of his labors and the promise of
his future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Colin Lu upon the occasion of winning a Gold Medal at the 42nd
International Chemistry Olympiad in Tokyo, Japan, July 19-28, 2010; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Colin Lu, Vestal, New York.
