LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Rosa Zorilla for her dedication in
preserving her community's housing resources and recognizing her as a
leader and an inspiration to the members of her community

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Rosa Zorilla has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Rosa Zorilla
for her dedication in preserving her community's housing resources and
to recognize her as a leader and an inspiration to the members of her
community; and
WHEREAS, The housing stock of our communities are in great need of
renovation; the people who reside in these buildings are given the
opportunity to become homeowners under the Tenant Interim Lease (TIL)
Program; and
WHEREAS, In every community, there are those exceptional individuals
who are dedicated to educating and uplifting their fellow neighbors;
Rosa Zorilla is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Rosa Zorilla has been called upon to contribute her time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman, who has resided in her community for
32 years, and who has been employed in a factory for the past 24 years,
has volunteered her time after working all day to the Beacon After
School Program; and
WHEREAS, As a volunteer, she works with both seniors and youth, hold-
ing computer education classes as well as teaching English as a second
language; and
WHEREAS, Rosa Zorilla was instrumental in organizing the residents of
nine buildings located on her block and around her neighborhood, to get
involved in the process of becoming homeowners as part of the TIL
Program; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Rosa Zorilla has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Rosa Zorilla has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Rosa Zorilla for her dedication in preserving her community's
housing resources and recognizing her as a leader and an inspiration to
the members of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rosa Zorilla.
