LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Investigator Shawn R. Ost upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the 2010 Investigator of the
Year Award by the Orange County Sheriff's Office

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Investigator Shawn R. Ost for their valued
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Shawn R. Ost
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2010 Investi-
gator of the Year Award by the Orange County Sheriff's Office, to be
celebrated at its Awards Recognition Ceremony on May 12, 2011, in Gosh-
en, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Sheriff's Office is recognizing correction officers and
employees, as well as deputies for the fine work they do throughout the
year; members of the office are presented awards for their outstanding
service during 2010; and
WHEREAS, Investigator Shawn Ost is receiving Investigator of the Year
for continuously surpassing the agency's expectations; he leads the
office in number of arrests, with a total of 591; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Investigator Shawn Ost initiated "Operation Dead
Beat Dad," and coordinated "Operation IMPACT" in the City of Newburgh,
offered assistance to the United States Marshalls Regional Fugitive Task
Force and also participated in "Operation Rapid"; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Investigator Shawn R. Ost upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2010 Investigator of the Year Award by the Orange Coun-
ty Sheriff's Office; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Investigator Shawn R. Ost.
