LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reamy Jansen upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2011 Written Word Award by the Friends
of the Highland Falls Library on May 21, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of individuals who
devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Reamy Jansen upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2011 Written Word Award by the Friends of the Highland Falls Library, to
be celebrated on Saturday, May 21, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Written Word Award recognizes the exceptional talent and
achievement of an author residing in the Town of Highlands, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Reamy Jansen, an author, poet, editor and State University of
New York at Rockland professor of English, is certainly deserving of
this special honor; and
WHEREAS, Reamy Jansen is the editor of a number of literary reviews
and has served as vice president of the National Book Critics Circle; he
has also been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including
the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Creativity and Scholarship; and
WHEREAS, Reamy Jansen has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself instintingly; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Reamy Jansen has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reamy Jansen upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2011 Written Word Award by the Friends of the Highland Falls
Library; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reamy Jansen.
