LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Craig Scott upon the occasion of
capturing the 2011 New York State Division II wrestling championship in
the 171 pound division

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Craig Scott upon the occasion of capturing the 2011 New
York State Division II wrestling championship in the 171 pound division;
and
WHEREAS, On February 26, 2011, Craig Scott triumphed in the 2011 New
York State Division II wrestling championships in the 171 pound weight
class at the tournament held at the Times Union Center in Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Top seeded Craig Scott of the Pal-Mac Red Raiders wrestling
team defeated Pioneer's Tony Lock by a score of 3-0 to earn his second
consecutive New York State wrestling title; and
WHEREAS, On his way to victory in the championship match, Craig Scott
defeated Beekmantown's Nick Bushey by an 11-1 major decision to advance
to the quarterfinals where he won by a 16-0 technical fall over Olean's
Marcus Dwaileebe; in his semi-final bout, he scored a takedown in the
first period and a reversal in the third period to take a 4-1 lead over
Phoenix's Austyn Hayes before Hayes defaulted late in the period due to
injury; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Craig Scott's dedication to wrestling
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Craig Scott's exemplary performance is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Craig Scott upon the occasion of capturing the 2011 New
York State Division II wrestling championship in the 171 pound division,
and to commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his family,
his school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Craig Scott.
