LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus upon the
occasion of their induction into the New York State Broadcasters Associ-
ation Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched by
the faithful and untiring efforts of those individuals who have helped
shape the history of broadcasting in their area; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Rod
Wood and Carrie Lazarus upon the occasion of their induction into the
New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame on Monday, June 27,
2011, at the Sagamore Resort Hotel on Lake George, New York; and
WHEREAS, WSYR-TV, NewsChannel 9 of East Syracuse, New York, is proud
to announce that anchor team Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus was elected to
the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Rod Wood is a 35-year veteran of NewsChannel 9 and has sat at
the anchor desk beside Carrie Lazarus since she joined the organization
25 years ago; together they are one of the longest-running anchor teams
in television news; and
WHEREAS, As Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus are inducted into the New York
State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, they will join an elite
list of broadcast professionals; the Hall of Fame includes legends such
as Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, Gabe Pressman, Tony Malara, Irv
Weinstein and Ernie Tetrault; and
WHEREAS, Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus have, throughout their careers
and purposeful lives, served their community with integrity and
devotion, continuously striving to meet the needs of their listeners
through entertainment and enlightenment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus upon the occasion of their induction
into the New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus.
