LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Tyrone Stevenson upon the occa-
sion of his designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Reverend Tyrone Stevenson upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition, to be celebrated at the 4th Annual Men of
Distinction Awards Ceremony, on Thursday, June 9, 2011, in Brooklyn, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Tyrone Stevenson is the Founder and Senior Pastor of
Hope Christian Center in Brooklyn, New York; he was also a residential
mortgage banker and former member of the United States Navy who was a
United States Defense employee at the Pentagon where he was assigned to
the Secretary of Defense as a travel administrator; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Tyrone Stevenson has been involved in community
outreach programs as Senior Pastor of Hope Christian Center which has
touched the lives of over 18,000 people in his community; he built the
church's membership starting with only nine people in 2003 to over 400
patrons now worshiping every Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Tyrone Stevenson attended Forest Hills High School
in Brooklyn, New York, and was educated at Bethel Theological Seminary
where he earned his Master of Divinity degree; he is also President and
CEO of Hope Empowerment and Development Zone, a nonprofit organization
whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for community building and posi-
tive growth; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Tyrone Stevenson upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Tyrone Stevenson.
