LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Dancewave upon the occasion of hosting
its 2011 Spring Celebration Gala

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Dancewave
upon the occasion of hosting its 2011 Spring Celebration Gala; this
auspicious occasion will be held on June 10-11, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Dancewave, Inc. was founded in 1985 to promote performing
arts activities and education for young people in New York City, prior-
itizing the youth and families of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Dancewave has created programs which
address young people's needs for individual achievement and group iden-
tity; and
WHEREAS, As a home for interdisciplinary performing arts, Dancewave's
guiding vision employs dance as a lens to view, appreciate, and under-
stand other creative disciplines; and
WHEREAS, Under the expert and skilled leadership of its Executive
Director, Diane Jacobowitz, Dancewave offers young people unique expo-
sure to a world-class level of performing arts study, practice and
accomplishment through ongoing dance classes, performances and collabo-
rative programs; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Dancewave for
hosting its 2011 Spring Celebration Gala, and for its long-standing
commitment to professional growth and community service, and to congrat-
ulate it on its achievements and progress; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments, which serve to bring
people together for such creative, constructive and beneficial purposes,
are brought to our attention, they should be recognized by all the citi-
zens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to pay
tribute to Dancewave upon the occasion of hosting its 2011 Spring Cele-
bration Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Diane Jacobowitz, Executive Director, Dancewave, Inc.
