LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert "Bob" Barrett upon the occasion
of his induction into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor
Robert "Bob" Barrett upon the occasion of his induction into the Greater
Utica Sports Hall of Fame; this auspicious occasion will be celebrated
at the Hall's Class of 2011 Induction Ceremony, to be held on Sunday,
June 5, 2011, at the Radisson Hotel-Utica Centre in Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, A longtime basketball, baseball and soccer coach at both
Chadwicks High School and Sauquoit Valley High School, Robert "Bob"
Barrett amassed a 726-282-20 overall record for an exceptional .706
winning percentage; and
WHEREAS, Bob Barrett's coaching record in baseball was an outstanding
324-47; his teams won 19 League Championships and captured five Section
III titles; and
WHEREAS, In addition to coaching prowess, Bob Barrett is a highly
regarded soccer official on both the high school and collegiate level;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bob Barrett authored a nationally published
article on soccer defense in the magazine SCHOLASTIC COACH entitled "4-4
Powerhouse"; and
WHEREAS, Bob Barrett was inducted into the SUNY Utica-Rome Hall of
Fame in 1997; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents a unique opportunity for
this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Robert "Bob"
Barrett; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such outstanding athletic accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Robert "Bob" Barrett
for his extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to
his skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations with
praise and pride to honor Robert Barrett upon the occasion of his
induction into the Greater Utica Sports Hall of Fame; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert "Bob" Barrett.
