LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Firefighter Michael Esposi-
to of the Baldwin Fire Department, who died in the line of duty on May
18, 2011

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Firefighter Michael Esposito of Baldwin, New York, died in
the line of duty on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at the age of 43; and
WHEREAS, Michael Esposito joined the department in 1989 with his
brother, Todd; the two brothers fought their first fire together the
following year; and
WHEREAS, A 21-year veteran of the Baldwin Fire Department, Michael
Esposito dedicated his life and gave his life to the community and the
department; and
WHEREAS, Michael Esposito is survived by his father, Gerard; two
sisters, Donna and Dawn; and two brothers, Gerard, Jr. and Todd; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Firefighter Michael Esposito touched
many through his kindness and commitment to service, and, as we recall
the loss of this great man, we memorialize his remarkable life and the
enormous impact he had on everyone with whom he came in contact; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to convey its grate-
ful appreciation and heartfelt regret in recognition of the loss of a
courageous firefighter who dedicated his purposeful life and career in
faithful service to his family and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Firefighter Michael Esposito of the Baldwin Fire
Department, who died in the line of duty, recognizing the significance
of his service to, the citizens of his community, and expressing its
deepest condolences to his entire family; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Michael Esposito.
