LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Carey High School Head Football
Coach Mike Stanley upon the occasion of his designation as New York Jets
High School Coach of the Week

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize those individuals within our midst who have contributed great-
ly to the quality of our lives by providing exceptional leadership and
commitment to our youth; and
WHEREAS, It is acknowledged that athletic competition enhances the
moral and physical development of the young people of this State,
preparing them for the future by instilling in them the value of team-
work, encouraging a standard of healthy living, imparting a desire for
success and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and,
further, that excellence and success in competitive sports can be
achieved only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, all
of which are nurtured by dedicated coaching; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley upon the occa-
sion of his designation as New York Jets High School Coach of the Week;
and
WHEREAS, The New York Jets High School Coach of the Week Award is
presented each week to a coach in the tri-state area who serves the best
interests of the game by teaching sound football fundamentals, motivat-
ing young players to achieve and promoting youth football through dedi-
cation to his community, his school and his student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Head Football Coach Mike Stanley of Carey High
School in Franklin Square, New York, led his team to its first undefeat-
ed regular season since 1978; and
WHEREAS, Coach Stanley's Seahawks team compiled an impressive 8-0
regular season record and defeated Westbury 42-9 in the first round of
the Nassau County Conference II championships; and
WHEREAS, A social studies teacher and Dean of Students at Carey High
School, Mike Stanley is finishing his fourth year as varsity head foot-
ball coach; and
WHEREAS, Mike Stanley's successful coaching techniques are exemplified
by his energy, enthusiasm and passion, which permeates and motivates the
team; he has a passion for the game, a great football mind and a tremen-
dous work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Mike Stanley is a great communicator who relates well to all
his players who respond positively to his leadership; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley upon the
occasion of his designation as New York Jets High School Coach of the
Week; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Carey High School Head Football Coach Mike Stanley, Franklin
Square, New York.
