LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James W. Connolly upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Good Scout Award by the Schenectady
District, Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
WHEREAS, James W. Connolly will be recognized by the Schenectady
District, Twin Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America with its Good Scout
Award during a dinner to be held at the Glen Sanders Mansion on June 29,
2011; and
WHEREAS, Jim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Hamilton
College and continued his education at Columbia University, earning a
Masters degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Public
Health; and
WHEREAS, He began his career in a variety of prestigious positions at
Chilton Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mercy Medical
Center, Catholic Health System/Mercy Hospital, and Glens Falls Hospital;
and
WHEREAS, Jim currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer
of Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, At Ellis, he has been a strong leader who has shown personal
commitment to the mentoring of future health care leaders; and
WHEREAS, Jim has been honored with the Business Executive of the Year
Award from the Chamber of Schenectady County; his outstanding leadership
was also instrumental in Ellis Hospital receiving the Endurance Award
from the Southern Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce and the Spirit
Award from the Salvation Army; and
WHEREAS, He contributes his time to the American College of Healthcare
Executives, Visiting Nurse Service of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties,
Schenectady Chamber of Commerce, Union Graduate College, and Saratoga
Springs Babe Ruth Baseball and Biddy Basketball; and
WHEREAS, Jim and his loving wife, Peggy, are the proud parents of
three sons; and
WHEREAS, He has exhibited the true spirit of the prestigious Good
Scout Award through his tireless dedication in the community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James W. Connolly upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the Good Scout Award by the Schenectady District, Twin Rivers
Council, Boy Scouts of America; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James W. Connolly.
