LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sharon Roth upon the occasion of
her capturing two gold medals and a silver medal in powerlifting at the
Florida senior games

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
outstanding athletes who distinguish themselves through their excep-
tional performance, attaining unprecedented success and the highest
level of personal achievement; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing tradition, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Sharon Roth upon the occasion of her capturing two gold
medals and a silver medal in powerlifting at the Florida senior games;
and
WHEREAS, On December 11, 2010, Sharon Roth of Great Neck Estates, New
York, competed in the 50-54 year old, 124-132 pound weight class, power-
lifting competition in Fort Meyers, Florida, as part of the Florida
senior games; and
WHEREAS, With a combined score of 249 pounds, Sharon Roth won the
overall gold medal in her class; in addition, her 84 pound benchpress
won the silver medal and her impressive 165 pound deadlift won another
gold medal; and
WHEREAS, The gold and silver medals powerlifting outstanding victories
at the 2010 Florida senior games were Sharon Roth's first official
weightlifting competition; this exceptional performance and experience
has made her even more enthusiastic about continuing to compete in
future tournaments; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to congratulate Sharon Roth
for her extraordinary athletic accomplishments which are a tribute to
her skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
praise and pride to congratulate Sharon Roth upon the occasion of her
capturing two gold medals and a silver medal in powerlifting at the
Florida senior games; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sharon Roth.
