LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Maureen Sommerville upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Staff Member of the Year Award by
the Siena College Student Senate

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals of outstanding character who enhance the quality of
education of the young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Maureen Sommerville upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Staff Member of the Year Award by the Siena College Student Senate
which was celebrated at an Awards Ceremony in the Massry Commons dining
hall at Siena College; and
WHEREAS, Faculty and staff members of Siena College are recognized
every year; Maureen Sommerville has been working at the school for nine
months, and was completely surprised and elated to receive the award;
and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman is always demonstrating tremendous
concern for the students at Siena College; she has a willingness to
listen, makes students feel like they truly count, and constantly knows
what is going on in their lives; and
WHEREAS, Compassionate and kind, Maureen Sommerville always goes above
and beyond what her job description calls for, often receiving Christmas
cards, notes, or letters from Siena students telling her that it's
almost like they have a second mother; and
WHEREAS, Maureen Sommerville is the loving mother of two sons who are
currently attending the college, one a sophomore and the other a junior,
as well as a daughter who is a student at Shaker High School; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and charac-
ter whose endeavors have enhanced the growth of education in the great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Maureen Sommerville upon the occasion of her designation as recip-
ient of the Staff Member of the Year Award by the Siena College Student
Senate; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Maureen Sommerville.
