LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Caribbean Cultural Theatre upon the
occasion of its designation for special recognition

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality of
life of the citizens of New York State is greatly enriched by its excep-
tional cultural, educational and recreational institutions; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Caribbean
Cultural Theatre upon the occasion of its designation for special recog-
nition; and
WHEREAS, The Caribbean Cultural Theatre is a Brooklyn, New York, based
performing arts ensemble dedicated to presenting a balanced rendering of
Caribbean culture and the Caribbean-American experience; and
WHEREAS, The Caribbean Cultural Theatre is dedicated to presenting
work of the highest artistic merit that honors a balanced rendering of
Caribbean culture and the Caribbean-American experience; and
WHEREAS, Theater is used as a tool for preserving artistic legacies,
nurturing professional growth, preserving cultural identity, inspiring
audiences and empowering communities; and
WHEREAS, Over 10 years ago, four Caribbean-American theatre practi-
tioners set about fashioning a company that would not only provide an
outlet for their work and creativity, but also a nurturing environment
for other artists interested in work emanating from and influenced by
Caribbean cultural traditions and language; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean Cultural Theatre is a theatrical immersion experi-
ence presenting the work of Caribbean based and/or influenced writers,
performers and other practitioners that both entertain and enlighten;
with an eclectic and ever-evolving blend of artists and cultures, the
company, through active collaboration with both Caribbean and non-Carib-
bean artists of all disciplines, honors a balanced rendering of Caribbe-
an culture and the Caribbean-American experience; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean Cultural Theatre's distinguished record merits the
recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Caribbean Cultural Theatre upon the occasion of its designation
for special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Caribbean Cultural Theatre.
