LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition by the 67th Precinct
Community Council

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the success and progress of society in the course
of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the 67th Precinct Community Council, celebrated
on Friday, August 19, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson better known as "Hutch" was
born in Christ Church, Barbados and began his law enforcement career as
a member of the Royal Barbados Police Force; and
WHEREAS, Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson emigrated to the United States
in 1976 and spent eight years in the United States Air Force being
stationed as close as McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey and as far as
Incirlick Air Force Base in Turkey where he attained the rank of Staff
Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson embarked on a 25-year career
with the New York City Police Department in 1987 as a New York City
Transit Officer, and in 1995 he was assigned to the 67th Precinct, where
he continued his remarkable career until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, When off duty, Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson is a member of
the Barbados Ex-Police Association where he tutors children as also
mentors at the Family Renaissance Center; and
WHEREAS, St. Joseph's College and Harvard University are the insti-
tutions where Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson studied Organizational
Management and Peer Mediation, respectively; and
WHEREAS, After countless commendations, recognitions, and awards of
appreciation, Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson, has always exemplified the
true meaning of service; and
WHEREAS, A constant asset to society Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson's
distinguished record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by the 67th Precinct Community Council; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Detective H. Leroy Hutchinson.
