LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Raven Dennis III upon the occasion of
breaking the Guinness World Record for creating the World's Largest
Sculpted Cake

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those American artists who have achieved worldwide recognition, for in
doing so, we also give thanks for our freedom which allows us to create
and express ourselves artistically; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Raven Dennis III upon the occasion of breaking the Guinness World Record
for creating the Worlds Largest Sculpted Cake; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion was celebrated with performances and
awards, at the Cake Man Raven Family and Friends Appreciation Day, in
Brooklyn, New York, Sunday, July 17, 2011, which also marked the 11th
anniversary of his business, and the Annual Cupcake Parade; and
WHEREAS, Raven Dennis III who is lovingly known as Cake Man Raven,
will go down in history for his gigantic, edible creation, which was
unveiled in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity's
centennial national convention; and
WHEREAS, The astonishing record breaking cake measured 31.5 feet long,
20 feet wide and 10 inches deep and was in the shape of Kappa Alpha
Psi's coat of arms; made with Raven Dennis III's signature delight,
Southern Red Velvet, the cake fed an astounding 15,000 people; the
remainder was given to both local shelters in Indianapolis and the
employees of the Indiana Convention Center; and
WHEREAS, Raven Dennis III should be commended for following his dream
and his lifelong passion for cake and will go down in history for his
incredible feat; and
WHEREAS, It is most fitting that we take time to celebrate the arts of
our Nation, to honor our artists, and to express our appreciation to
everyone who patronizes the arts; and as we celebrate the arts, we cele-
brate and give thanks to our American freedom, the only atmosphere in
which artists can truly create and in which art is truly the expression
of the soul; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
those individuals of historic and artistic significance whose creative
talents have contributed to the cultural enrichment of our communities
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Raven Dennis III upon the occasion of breaking the Guinness World
Record for creating the World's Largest Cake; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Raven Dennis III.
