LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Mrs. Patty Yarmel upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition for her volunteer efforts at the
Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School 19

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are enhanced by the concerned and dedicated efforts of individuals that
generously contribute to the welfare of the community and its citizenry;
and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Mrs.
Patty Yarmel upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion for her volunteer efforts at the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School 19;
and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Mrs. Patty Yarmel performed outstanding volunteer
services at the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School 19 with a desire and
vision to develop a violin program; she also volunteers two days plus
per week to teach and work with the students; and
WHEREAS, In the first year of Mrs. Patty Yarmel's volunteer efforts at
the school, it received more than 30 violin donations from people in the
community; and
WHEREAS, Through these volunteer efforts of Mrs. Patty Yarmel, the Dr.
Charles T. Lunsford School 19 has a relationship with the Rochester
Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RYPO) so that violins donated to the
school are done directly through RYPO; and
WHEREAS, As a result of volunteer efforts and other initiatives, RYPO
helped to build student interest in the music program by performing
monthly chamber music concerts for the K-3 grades, and by year-end 2009
the program had achieved exceptional growth; and
WHEREAS, The music program at the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School 19
has had an outstanding effect on its students and on the community; the
program has been featured at the Side by Side RYPO/RPO concert, the
Rochester Lilac Festival, and the International Jazz Festival; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the students in the music program at the Dr.
Charles T. Lunsford School 19 have been honored as guest performers at
Kilbourne Hall/Eastman Theatre for the William Warfield Scholarship
Recital and at the Strong Museum of Play for the Center of Youth Annual
Board meeting; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Mrs. Patty Yarmel has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of her colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Mrs. Patty Yarmel has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Mrs. Patty Yarmel upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition for her volunteer efforts at the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford
School 19; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mrs. Patty Yarmel.
