LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the members of the New Hyde Park Memo-
rial High School Key Club in recognition of their extensive charitable
efforts and distinguished community service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accord with
its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and leaders
of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the ideals
and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the members of the New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key Club in recog-
nition of their extensive charitable efforts and distinguished community
service; and
WHEREAS, The 75 members of the New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key
Club, a branch of the New Hyde Park Kiwanis Club, collaborated with the
Nassau County Department of Social Services to identify 10 families in
need within their community; the Key Club members set up a food and
clothing drive at their school, collecting much needed materials to
bring these families warmth and comfort for a happy holiday season; and
WHEREAS, The benevolent efforts of the New Hyde Park Memorial High
School Key Club raised the consciousness of its members who ultimately
visited the families to distribute the food and clothes; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key Club
collected between 300 and 400 toys to donate to families though a facil-
ity in Hempstead that received and distributed toys; and
WHEREAS, Faculty co-sponsors, Linda Bocchino and Michele Pesce, have
done a superb job in guiding, molding and inspiring the members of the
New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key Club; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when young
people of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the members of the New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key Club
of Nassau, New York, in recognition of their extensive charitable
efforts and distinguished community service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New Hyde Park Memorial High School Key Club.
