LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Bernie Ellsworth upon the occasion of
his retirement after 50 years of distinguished service to Ulster County

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Bernie Ellsworth upon the occasion of his retirement after 50 years of
distinguished service to Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, Bernie Ellsworth rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Ellsworth started working for Ulster County in 1961,
as a general foreman; he came to Saugerties in 1984, as an assistant
highway superintendent; and
WHEREAS, For the past 12 years, Bernie Ellsworth has served as Ulster
County's Town of Saugerties Highway Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Town of Saugerties Highway Superintendent,
Bernie Ellsworth served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Ellsworth implemented a number of new paving tech-
niques that have been widely adopted and used throughout New York State;
and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Bernie Ellsworth was governed by a keen
sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; and
WHEREAS, Bernie Ellsworth has been nominated by the State Comp-
troller's Office to represent the Town Superintendents of New York State
at the New York State Association of Towns meeting in New York City; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with Ulster County, Bernie Ellsworth earned
the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Bernie Ellsworth upon the occasion of his retirement after 50
years of distinguished service to Ulster County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Bernie Ellsworth.
