LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ellen Bernstein Fox upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Port Washington Education
Foundation

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Ellen Bernstein Fox has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ellen Bern-
stein Fox upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the Port Washington Education Foundation on Saturday, April 9, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, Currently the Vice President of Port Washington Education
Foundation's Project Development Committee, Ellen Bernstein Fox has
brilliantly led the organization's Education Support Center since its
inception; and
WHEREAS, Second generation and life-long Port Washington resident
Ellen Bernstein Fox is credited with starting the Port Washington Educa-
tion Foundation (PWEF) Education Support Center; begun in 2004, the
Center serves over 40 third graders in a weekly program that focuses on
literacy skill; and
WHEREAS, A devoted volunteer, Ellen Bernstein Fox has been the Presi-
dent of Manorhaven PTA and Parent Council; while President of Parent
Council, she initiated the Community Holiday Drive, an annual event that
brings numerous parent volunteers together to donate holiday gifts of
food, clothing and toys for Port Washington families in need; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ellen Bernstein Fox upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the Port Washington Education Foundation; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ellen Bernstein Fox.
