LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra,
New York, upon the occasion of its 125th Anniversary

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
exceptional businesses within the State of New York which contribute to
the economic health and vitality of the communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra, New York, upon the occasion of
its 125th Anniversary, to be celebrated on Friday, February 10, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, In the late 19th century, Olin J. Garlock devised a better
way to seal piston rods in industrial steam engines; this ingenuity led
to the creation of Garlock Sealing Technologies; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1887 in Palmyra, New York, Garlock Sealing Tech-
nologies has become a leader in the fluid sealing industry and a corner-
stone of the EnPro Industries family; and
WHEREAS, Garlock Sealing Technologies is the acknowledged global lead-
er in high-performance fluid sealing products for the world's processing
industries; these include chemicals and petrochemicals, refining, pulp
and paper, power generation, semiconductor, primary metals, food and
pharmaceuticals, mining and original equipment manufacturers, among
others; and
WHEREAS, Today, Garlock Sealing Technologies and its affiliates have
15 global operations employing more than 1,800 people and a distributor
network that covers 75 countries; and
WHEREAS, The company's 12 manufacturing facilities in the United
States, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America collectively produce the
broadest range of fluid sealing products designed specifically for
industrial applications; in addition, they operate the most extensive
testing facilities in the industry; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of Garlock Sealing Technologies, recognizing its
contributions to the local and State economies, and extending its high-
est commendation to the corporation and its employees; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Garlock Sealing Technologies in Palmyra, New York, upon the occa-
sion of its 125th Anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Garlock Sealing Technologies.
