LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Ed Lasek upon the occasion of the
30th Anniversary of Ed Lasek Optical World

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the achievements of individuals and businesses which contribute
substantially to the economic health and vitality of the communities of
the State of New York, and to their quality of life; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Ed Lasek upon the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Ed Lasek
Optical World, Utica, New York; and
WHEREAS, A Utica native, Ed Lasek launched his lifelong dream of
having his own business four years after graduating from Erie Technical
School with an Associate in Applied Science degree; and
WHEREAS, Today, Ed Lasek and Ed Lasek Optical World are still going
strong at 228 Genessee Street 30 years after the store opened at that
downtown Utica location; and
WHEREAS, Committed to serving his community and his customers, Ed
Lasek keeps up with changes in his profession and areas such as insur-
ance benefits for which his clients may be eligible and, to stay current
with changing frame and lens styles, he goes to the International Vision
Expo East in New York City every year to keep up with the latest trends
in his field; and
WHEREAS, An avid and longtime loyal supporter of downtown Utica, Ed
Lasek encourages anyone considering opening a business in Utica to do so
downtown; and
WHEREAS, Ed Lasek himself has no plans of moving or of retiring;
instead, he is training for his seventh Utica Boilermaker Road Race and
looks forward to being in business for 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Businesses, such as Ed Lasek Optical World, and their owners,
such as Ed Lasek, exert a strong, positive influence on the communities
they serve and are an essential component of the economies and communi-
ties of the State of New York, and of their quality of life; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions, and those of Ed
Lasek, fully confident Ed Lasek and Ed Lasek Optical World will continue
to enjoy the success Ed Lasek has worked so hard to achieve; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Ed Lasek upon the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of Ed
Lasek Optical World, to applaud him for his success, his outstanding
service and commitment to his clients and his community, and to recog-
nize and celebrate Ed Lasek Optical World as one of Utica's great retail
establishments on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ed Lasek of Ed Lasek Optical World.
