LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending John Navarra upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition on May 12, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, John Navarra has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend John Navarra
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition, to be
celebrated at the Westchester and Rockland Society of Pharmacists Annual
Dinner Dance on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Davenport Club in New
Rochelle, New York; and
WHEREAS, A 1967 graduate of St. John's University, John Navarra
currently owns and operates 10 licensed pharmacies in New York City,
Albany, Newark, and Long Island, doing business as Town Drug and Town
Total Health; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, John Navarra has been active in numer-
ous professional organizations including the New York State Board of
Pharmacy, the Italian American Pharmacists Society, the Pharmacists
Society of the State of New York, the New York City Pharmacists Society,
and the New York State Department of Health Medicaid Advisory Committee,
to name a few; and
WHEREAS, John Navarra has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, John Navarra
currently serves as a Pharmacy Consultant for the Independent Living
Association; he is also on the volunteer board for Reality House, a drug
rehabilitation community program; and
WHEREAS, John Navarra has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades, some of which include, the 2010 Bowl of Hygeia, the 2006
Catholic Charities Humanitarian Award, and the 2000 Italian-American
Pharmacists Society Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John Navarra has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which John Navarra has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend John Navarra upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition on May 12, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Navarra.
