LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the May W. Newburger 19th Annual
Women's Roll of Honor on March 22, 2012

WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless women, strong and colorful
threads vital to the fabric of our rich heritage, who have and continue
to contribute to the advancement of our culture through their tradi-
tional and non-traditional roles in society; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commemorate the May
W. Newburger 19th Annual Women's Roll of Honor, to be celebrated on
Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links in Port Wash-
ington, New York; and
WHEREAS, The theme of this year's Women's Roll of Honor celebration is
"to be a star, you must shine your own light, follow your own path, and
don't worry about the darkness, for that is when the star shines bright-
est"; and
WHEREAS, The Annual Women's Roll of Honor recognizes extraordinary
women in the Town of North Hempstead for their selfless contributions to
the community; and
WHEREAS, Since 1994, North Hempstead has held a Women's History Month
Breakfast to honor women who have made a contribution to their communi-
ty, possess a special personal talent, or have accomplished a signif-
icant achievement through public or quiet work; and
WHEREAS, The 2012 Women's Roll of Honor honorees are: Diane Cohen,
Mineola; Margaret Constantino, Port Washington; Ann Marie Curd, Manhas-
set; Janet Entine, Roslyn Heights; Rose Marie Farrar, Williston Park;
Mary Grassie, Albertson; Jo-Ellen Hazan, Sands Point; Yurika Saito
Karasz, Mineola; Patricia Katz, Great Neck; Betty Leong, New Hyde Park;
Mable Jo Robinson, Westbury; Lisbeth Shibley, Manhassett; Karen Siegel,
Great Neck; and Marian Williams, Westbury; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the May W. Newburger 19th Annual Women's Roll of Honor on
March 22, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jon Kaiman, Supervisor, Town of North Hempstead, and the
aforementioned honorees.
