LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the 20th Anniversary of the Sephardic
Heritage Alliance, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend organizations of high purpose and worthy accomplishment whose
endeavors foster and celebrate ethnic pride and have a significant
impact on the lives of those they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
20th Anniversary of the Sephardic Heritage Alliance, Inc., to be cele-
brated at its 20th Anniversary Gala on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at
Temple Israel of Great Neck, New York; and
WHEREAS, This most auspicious event will feature a keynote address
from His Majesty Reza Pahlavi II, and will pay tribute to the Sephardic
Heritage Alliance (SHAI) for its two decades of service to the Persian-
Jewish Community of New York; and
WHEREAS, SHAI is a dynamic and multi-faceted organization, counting
1,000 families amongst its members; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1992, SHAI has organized diverse
events and programs geared towards keeping the family and the Persian-
Jewish community together; and
WHEREAS, SHAI's avowed goal is to meet the evolving needs of the
Persian-Jewish community across generational lines, while promoting
their conservative values, traditions, and Sephardic heritage; and
WHEREAS, SHAI has reached out and developed partnerships with local
schools, synagogues, Jewish organizations, and local governments; and
WHEREAS, The SHAI name is met with respect and recognition by both
Persians and Americans as a non-profit group that has a strong and
influential voice; and
WHEREAS, SHAI's commitment to the ideal of education has been demon-
strated by its promotion of a number of academic incentive programs
including its very successful Education Scholarship Fund, now in its
12th year; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to extend its
recognition and commendation to the Sephardic Heritage Alliance, Inc.,
applauding its preeminent endeavors for the past 20 years; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the 20th Anniversary of the Sephardic Heritage Alliance, Inc.; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Sephardic Heritage Alliance, Inc.
