LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Palm Island Indoor Water Park upon the
occasion of its designation as the 2011 Innovative Enterprise of the
Year by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend
Palm Island Indoor Water Park upon the occasion of its designation as
the 2011 Innovative Enterprise of the Year by the Genesee County Chamber
of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday,
April 14, 2012, at the Clarion Hotel in Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Chan Patel, Amit Ashah and Harish Patel purchased the former
Holiday Inn in 2001; after realizing the decrease in business after the
summer months, the trio embarked upon a business venture that would
bring people to their hotel during the off season; and
WHEREAS, On September 30, 2011, the three men opened Palm Island Water
Park under the Clarion brand; and
WHEREAS, The Clarion now employs 85 individuals, of which 20 part-time
positions were created by the Palm Island Water Park; and
WHEREAS, More than 10,000 people visited Palm Island Water Park from
its opening until the end of 2011; and
WHEREAS, Palm Island Water Park is designed to provide entertainment
for all ages, including its Monsoon Lagoon for young children, a basket-
ball pool for teens, and a hot tub which appeals to adults; the park
also features a water slide and an arcade; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges this exceptional business and its contributions to the local and
State economies, fully confident that it will continue to enjoy the
sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Palm Island Indoor Water Park upon the occasion of its designation
as the 2011 Innovative Enterprise of the Year by the Genesee County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Palm Island Indoor Water Park.
