LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Donna Saskowski upon the occasion of her
designation as the Geneseean of the Year by the Genesee County Chamber
of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Donna Saskowski has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Donna
Saskowski upon the occasion of her designation as the 2011 Geneseean of
the Year by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce, to be celebrated at
its 40th Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the
Clarion Hotel in Batavia, New York; and
WHEREAS, Donna Saskowski grew up on a family farm in Corfu; she
majored in social work at the University at Buffalo, where she later
earned a master's degree; and
WHEREAS, Donna Saskowski started working at the Genesee County ARC in
1989, and was named executive director in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure with the ARC, Donna has had a positive
impact on the lives of thousands of people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Donna Saskowski has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, An involved and valuable member of her community, Donna
Saskowski was a member of the 2005 class of Leadership Genesee and is a
past board member of the YWCA of Genesee County; and
WHEREAS, Donna Saskowski currently serves on the board of directors of
Regional Action Phone and the Batavia Rotary Club where she serves as
secretary; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Donna Saskowski has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Paul, and their
two daughters, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Donna Saskowski has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Donna Saskowski upon the occasion of her designation as the Gene-
seean of the Year by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Donna Saskowski.
