LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Michael Castellana upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by Catholic Charities on
April 26, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michael Castellana has given not only of his time and ener-
gies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Michael
Castellana upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
by Catholic Charities, to be celebrated at its Silver Anniversary Cele-
bration on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 11 North Pearl in Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, As SEFCU's President and CEO, Michael Castellana leads the
largest credit union in the Capital Region and the seventh largest in
the state of New York; and
WHEREAS, Michael Castellana joined SEFCU more than 23 years ago as a
member of the executive management team and during his tenure has seen
the credit union grow both geographically and in overall size; and
WHEREAS, Michael Castellana has been called upon to contribute his
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, As the head of SEFCU, Michael Castellana has been instru-
mental in bringing together employees, members, the community, and busi-
ness partners under a common theme: "Banking with a Purpose"; and
WHEREAS, Under Michael Castellana's leadership, SEFCU acts as a cata-
lyst, leveraging community relationships to create a more positive
outcome for all, including those at Caregivers Support Services; and
WHEREAS, Michael Castellana serves on numerous boards of directors,
including the SEFCU Foundation, a non-profit affiliation he formed to
pool the time, talent, and financial resources of SEFCU staff in support
of children's causes; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Castellana has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael Castellana has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Michael Castellana upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by Catholic Charities on April 26, 2012; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Castellana.
