LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Meenakshi Krishna upon the occasion of
her selection as a winner at the regional finals of The Poetry Out Loud
National Recitation Contest

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
an educational competition, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Meenakshi Krishna upon the occasion of her selection as a winner at the
regional finals of The Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest; and
WHEREAS, The Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest is a program
designed to encourage the nation's youth to learn about great poetry
through memorization and performance; and
WHEREAS, A Herricks High School Junior, Meenakshi Krishna has
presented a model of educational leadership and achievement which merits
the admiration and appreciation of the people of the State of New York;
and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate the individual accomplishments
of remarkable and exceptional students who participate in these educa-
tional contests and who have achieved noteworthy recognition for their
efforts; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to recognize and applaud
Meenakshi Krishna for her outstanding success, achievement and notewor-
thy accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when an
outstanding student and individual of such noble aims and notable accom-
plishments is brought to our attention, she should be recognized by all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Meenakshi Krishna upon the occasion of her selection as a winner
at the regional finals of The Poetry Out Loud National Recitation
Contest; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Meenakshi Krishna.
