LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Jack Walsh upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by BRIC Arts/Media/Brooklyn on June
5, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Jack Walsh has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Jack Walsh
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by BRIC
Arts/Media/Brooklyn, to be observed at its Celebrate Brooklyn! Opening
Night Gala and Concert on Tuesday, June 5, 2012; and
WHEREAS, On this most auspicious occasion, Jack Walsh, Executive
Producer of the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival, will be
honored for his 30 years of dedication to Celebrate Brooklyn!, BRIC, and
the Park Slope community; and
WHEREAS, Jack Walsh has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A life-long Brooklyn resident, Jack Walsh has been the heart
of the Celebrate Brooklyn! program during a remarkable period of growth;
and
WHEREAS, As Executive Producer of Celebrate Brooklyn!, Jack Walsh has
been instrumental in the planning and reconstruction of the Prospect
Park Bandshell, the introduction of successful new programming concepts,
the doubling of attendance, the development of a city-wide audience, the
diversification of revenue streams, and the launch of a new series in
Brooklyn Bridge Park; and
WHEREAS, Jack Walsh was named BRIC's Director of Performing Arts
Programs in 2007 and is developing new programming for BRIC Arts/Media
House, which will open in 2013 in Downtown Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, Jack Walsh also serves on the Prospect Park Alliance Communi-
ty Committee and as a member of the National Endowment for the Arts'
Steering Committee for Summer Outdoor Festivals; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Jack Walsh has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Jack Walsh has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Jack Walsh upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by BRIC Arts/Media/Brooklyn on June 5, 2012; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jack Walsh.
